In the Sunday meeting of May 23, 1971, a young man had a prophecy which led Mrs. Hannah Lowe to speak from Joel 1-2 about crying to the Lord in the midst of the darkness and gloom facing the nation currently.

Prophecy: "Cry unto the Lord"

A college student Larry gives a prophecy in the earlier part of the meeting, which later led Mrs. Lowe to give her message.

Hannah Lowe on Joel 1-2

Lift your eyes to me. Let me rub them with my hands and let me wash thee in my blood. Oh, yield thyselves unto me that I may reward you and I may reshape you, you may be my vessels, I may fill you with my Spirit and bring you forth into my places and bring you forth and send you forth that the Word may be sent forth and the people may hear it and believe. Oh, that the people may hear and believe and believe upon me. They may not be faithless, but they may be my children and that I may bring riches unto them and pour forth my Spirit upon them and may give them the desires of my heart, that they may be filled, that they may be filled, that I may be filled with the desires which I for them. Oh, that my people would only turn to me. Oh, that they would only love me. Oh, that they would only sing unto me. Oh my people, oh my people, cry, cry unto me, my people. Cry unto me and let me reward you, let me reshape you. Be as honey in my hand, it feels warm, warm clay that I may shape you and mold you and knead you with my hand that you may be molded into exactly what I need for you, exactly what I want you to be, what you must be. Oh, you must be mine all the way. You must be warm and shaped in my hand. Oh, be mine.

We heard the message of the Lord that we should cry unto the Lord and weep. As Hans and Lois came Tuesday night and said that the Lord had laid it upon their hearts to…. Well, they had seen the Scripture different times. But I certainly think it is a time to weep and to howl and to cry unto the Lord. Because we’re the ones that have the light. We’re the ones that know to cry and howl. They don’t know—those that are in darkness—they don’t know anything about it. They don’t know to cry for themselves. It’s just like parents with families, the children don’t know what they need. You have to supply that need.

And Daniel knew that his people didn’t know their need. And Nehemiah knew that the people didn’t know their need. It was up to them to take on the intercession and the suffering for the people. And Joel here gives it very plain, that things are being destroyed, the palmerworm has now eaten what the locust had left and so on, it goes down, the cankerworm.

Well, we hear the pollution that there is no solving of the problem. When is this problem ever going to be solved? That’s just of the air. Then you talk about the waters, how and where and when is this going to be solved? Somebody puts the next ten years and all of the things that are being poured into the water to contaminate it. Then you have the fish. The other day you were afraid to eat any tuna, because that was so polluted—I think that was a few years back. Now it comes in that swordfish have to be cancelled. And then now it is that not only swordfish, but other kinds of fish, the bass now, the striped bass you can’t have. All of this is the mercury that’s in all of this.

10: Nader, who seems to be a blessing, and some people are cursing him, but he seems to be a great blessing. He’s showing up what the different companies are doing, the automobiles and all of this, how the pollution… It’s into everything. We’re being just sold out gradually, you can say, and the country going down the drain. Everything, every moral and every thing that we have to look to that our pilgrim fathers established, all of that goes.

And who cares about the pilgrim fathers? They’re something to laugh about. And who cares about one thing or the other? And the Lord so graciously came today and told us through Larry that we should cry. “I would have that you would cry. I would that you would cry to me. I would that you would take it to heart.” You heard it the same as I did.

And then we have all of these different things that need to be solved. Well, we know there’s no solving of them. Our land is going. And as we hear this one that is said to give me a certain amount of the lead soldiers and this is sweeping the land. Communism is polluting… If you could only look down into this and see the spies that we have in our land and those that are waiting to take people in their grips so that they can cause them to work. All of the things….

We just seem to be immune from all, we don’t bother with these things. We don’t hear any cry from those at the top of our nation, to cry and to call out to God or we’re putting a time apart.

He could say plainly, “I’m no match for any of this. I’m the president; I’m supposed to be able to do anything, but I can’t do these things. They have to be done by God, and pray with me.” We hear nothing. We hear of Tricia’s wedding that is to be shortly and she’s on the front of magazines, now in the paper that she’s trying out her true soul. And she’s a beautiful girl, and he’s just very proud of her, and he’s proud of his children, and he’s proud of this. But what are we doing? What is anybody doing? And we have cried for our nation.

But I do believe that we should call a solemn assembly. And I was wondering when is the next holiday that we have? It would be the end of this month, wouldn’t it? [man: A week from tomorrow.] A week from tomorrow. Memorial Day, Monday. Well, we should have a coming together and a calling of a solemn assembly.

Because we’re being eaten out. Joel sees it here in vision. And it’s a palmerworm. And that which the palmerworm eats… the palmerworm seemed to start first. And then the locust eats. And then when the locust leaves something… because there are certain things that the different worms don’t eat. They’re attacking this and something else, and attacking that, just as we have the boll weevils and the different things, the potato bug and all the different things. Well, they only eat certain things.

But here you have them creeping up and eating this and they leave part of it. Well then, you’ve got another pest there to eat the next thing. And then you’ve got another pest there to take over the waters, to take over the land, to take over the air, to take over the fish. And we already know what’s happening till everything that you eat is poisoned. You could just go into that, that’s a whole lecture. We could give half a dozen more lectures on what we eat; we’re eating poison all the time. Once this gets into your system, it can never get out. Your body, there’s nothing there that can take it out, you have it. And there you are. That leads to something else. And it’s the, as someone said, the vicious circle.

The birds are out now. That poison that you sprayed on those, the birds, are gone. You read where these bald eagles the other day, I don’t know what good they are, but they’re going out of existence. Well, whatever they did for the land, they’re just about gone. [man: They’re very valuable as scavengers.] As scavengers. They’re gone. They found I think 24 of them dead. They don’t know what did, that they’re examining them to see what killed them. And all of this.

Then comes the dryness, like we have in the Everglades in Florida. The dryness comes and then those animals and those different ones that did go to the land and brought forth, they’re going.

And then the famines will be coming. We hear in Colombia how we’ve had all these terrible rains and then floods. And all over Colombia there will be certainly famine there, and there can be famine anytime in any land. And it’s all going, it’s all in this vicious circle that the palmerworm left something. The locust came in, and then the cankerworm comes in, and that which the cankerworm had left, the caterpillar comes in. So it’s exactly portrayed in what’s happening. It’s in the waters, it’s on the land, it’s in the seas, it’s on the sea.

I watched on the television, I don’t know how long it was ago, that this oil that was poured out into the waters, and I saw those people go out and try to rescue those birds. And they would wipe them off. It was so pitiful, I could have cried. And just the other day the proportion was given; well, it wasn’t a fourth of them that were able to be saved. A few birds that were ever saved, and they went out and tried to rescue those birds that couldn’t help themselves. And they were covered with oil, black [and kind of oily], they wiped them off and tried. People said that they would do this. And they volunteered to do this.

So everything is being affected. And the worst of it all, then with this Russian business of coming in, the fifth column that’s in here, that we are to be wiped out at any time.

The only thing that can alleviate or cause anything to happen would be the power of God. And we don’t have that. We don’t have evangelists in the land, we don’t have prophets in the land. This isn’t that…

“For a nation is come up upon my land strong, without number.” After all of these insects and these plagues have come on the land, then he says, “Awake and weep and howl, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth. For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion.”

So you finish with these plagues and these insects and you come up with lions to come upon the land. As you try to take over, “He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white. Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth. The meat offering and the drink offering is cut off from the house of the Lord; the priests, the Lord’s ministers, mourn. The field is wasted, the land mourneth; for the corn is wasted.”

We believe or see, we wouldn’t want to believe that in Colombia there… it was given out that there won’t be corn now. The people won’t be able to get the rice planted. Everything is flooded out.

“The new wine is dried up, the oil languisheth.” The barley is cut off and “the harvest of the field is perished.” So it’s just affecting, everywhere: you hear of it in India, you hear of it here or you hear of it there. And you hear what’s happening to our land.

So “the vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree, and the apple tree, and all the trees of the field, are withered.” Why? “Because joy is withered away from the sons of men.” And it’s just nothing but a sadness and people looking at one another, and the dying off. Doesn’t it just hurt you to think that you just don’t know what you’re eating out of the water even, because you think, well, the meat is all polluted. The meat is polluted; that’s all there is to it. The chickens—that’s the highest ratio of poison, isn’t it? Or fowl. All of that is just so polluted. And you might try to keep free from all these things and buy at some health store and all that, but you can’t do this all the way; it’s impossible. You couldn’t absolutely, you could not be able to get everything that is free from pollution. And what about what’s already in you?

It says, “Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is withholden from the house of your God.” Then it not only creeps upon the land, but on the spiritual part of the land. It’s not only the real pests and the insects and the famishing and all of those things. But it comes that it’s cut off… I think it was Larry in the message that the spiritual part is cut off. The spiritual part.

“Sanctify ye a fast.” So, what’s the answer to it all? There’s no answer, nobody can do it; nobody can take it away, nobody can hinder those things. Nobody, because it’s getting worse and worse all the time. You just go into it. Somebody that has more statistics and John can go into this in a great way, because he knows all these statistics and Frank and others. But the main part is when it touches the spiritual and goes into the spiritual, that there’s not any food.

And the message today was that the pastors or the prophets have gone forth and talked to people lies. So you have that. You have the lies that Jeremiah talks about, those prophets and those shepherds that go in to get good things for themselves and they just muddy the water. You can see how a fountain is, and then all of that is water running over from the fountain. And then like troughs in there where the sheep or the animals that have trodden, and all down. And those poor things can’t get near that fountain, so they have to be satisfied with lapping up that’s all mixed with mud and with dirt. And that’s what they have to get.

So there’s no way of doing anything. Only through God we have to take it to heart. And we don’t see things moving like we want to see them moving. We don’t see this go back. Every day, there’s a new thing comes, a new message comes out. Then it comes time when… We had this week of the police being wiped out, just as a great… and they said that’s what they’re going to do now, wipe out of them. So that takes out the protection of the land, so that you’re there, faced with anybody that walks up to you or anything they can do, because there’s not any protection.

So everything that you could think of is being attacked. We have a city called… What’s that city? Brownsville? Or what is it in Brooklyn? Bronxville. [No, Brownsville.] Brownsville, that is one for the whole United States, it’s lifted up as a sample of what will happen to the United States to look at that city that’s… It’s just…well, it’s just ghost town, it’s horrible, to ever think that anybody is living there or trying to live there anymore. And that’s what this country will be coming to. We can find the whole thing, the whole germ, it’s germinating, the whole thing is in it, of perishing, destruction, darkness. They said, “A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.”

And then, just as Frank prayed, I think it was yesterday, somebody goes to the Everglades and drops one cigarette, so we’re…how many acres are burning? [man: Well, they have 500,000 acres so far have burnt just in Florida.] 500,000 acres that have wiped out those… you can see those beautiful animals or different… just dying, just writhing, the fish, the best things that we have. Because that park is a park, it’s… What’s it called? [man: National Wildlife Park.] Wildlife park, and they’re not touched there, they know when they’re there. They’re not touching…. Yet they’re writhing and dying there by the hour by the minute. So our land is just attacked all over.

And it says, “Sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the Lord your God, and cry [unto the Lord?].” I would have you cry, I would have you cry unto me, saith the Lord. Do we take these words to heart? We hear the awful destruction.

Well, Nehemiah took it to heart. We studied here last Tuesday that Nehemiah took it to heart. Daniel took it to heart, confessed his sins along with the sins of the people. Because Joel is saying, “Alas for the day! for the day of the Lord is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come. And the meat is cut off before our eyes… and the beasts groan!” It tells you exactly. And “The seed is rotten in their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered. The beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture.” That’s one of the saddest things, when you think you have cows and you can’t give them food to eat that they need. You need them and there’s no grass to eat.

“Yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate. O Lord, to thee will I cry.” Now there’s just one man. You say, well, now what good is it going to do? Because we have such a few people and how are we going to call on God for the whole country? And for different parts of the world that He would lead us to pray for?

And he says, “I will cry… to thee will I cry.” His will is in it. And he said, “I will cry. I’m crying. And I’m going… For the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field.” It’s just picturing what we’ve got here and now, that’s come up upon us. “The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of the waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness. Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand; a day of darkness and of gloominess,” and it goes on. “And the Lord shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the Lord is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?”

Then He says in verse 12, 2nd chapter: “Therefore also now, saith the Lord, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning.” All your hearts, the first thing. But you can fast and mourn, it wouldn’t do any good if your heart wasn’t in it. But “turn with all heart, with weeping and mourning.”

You know when Jesus came down from the Mount of Transfiguration. And the man was there with his epileptic son and had asked those disciples, “Do something” for his son, but they couldn’t. And Jesus came down from the mountain and even though Peter had said, “Let’s build three tabernacles here. Let’s stay up here.” It’s wonderful to be up in the breezes of the blessing. It’s wonderful to hear the word of the Lord. It’s wonderful to have communion, you could say, in the sky as they were. Well, let’s build us a place here and let’s stay here and have this all fixed up.

And Jesus knew what was waiting for him: the crowds, the people, the multitudes and, among them, the young man there that had been afflicted, sometimes being thrown into a fire and sometimes falling and foaming at the mouth. “And I asked your disciples, and they couldn’t do it.”

Well, He said something about faithless, didn’t he? He reprimanded them. [man: Oh yes, very strongly.] He said, “Bring your child here. Bring the boy here.” [He cast it out.]

“Now how did you do this?”

“This kind cometh not out only by fasting.” And the Lord wants us to show Him that we mean business. Not only do we cry, but we cry. Not only do we fast, but we rend our garments. It says, and not your garment. “Turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.”

Now there was a wicked king whose name was Ahab, wasn’t it? And he did all kinds of evil. But he walked softly. [man: That was Manasseh.] Manasseh? It was Ahab I was thinking about. And he walked softly with the Lord. And the Lord said, “All right, I won’t let this happen now. But in your generation, it will happen.” But as he walked softly, the Lord repented, because the man repented. He had mercy upon him and he said, “Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him?”

So God can be moved. God can be changed. He said, “I thy Lord am an unchangeable Lord. I change not.” But He can be changed if it’s to the good of the nation, if it’s to the good of His will being brought in. Because it is not His will that any should perish, but that all come to the knowledge of the truth. It’s not His will that any die. “Here, now, Israel, why will you die?” Why will you die? It’s not His will that any perish, but all come to the knowledge of salvation. Praise God.

And we know His will. His will isn’t… The enemy comes in with swarms and eats. He says, “Blow ye in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly: Gather the people, sanctify the congregation.” Well, now, if this wouldn’t need the formula, he wouldn’t tell you. He wouldn’t tell you. Like he said, “I’m going away and I’m going to prepare a mansion. If it were not so, I wouldn’t tell you. I’m telling you this for your good.”

“Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth out of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.” There’s no time for anything of the flesh. There’s time to go out and cry unto the Lord.

“Let the priests, and the ministers of the Lord, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O Lord, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?” Where is our God? People are saying that. What are we doing? What are we moving? Where is your God?

“Then will the Lord be jealous,” because of what? Is it getting a new thing out? The scientists are saying, well, we will find out how we can try to get the mercury out of the fish? You can’t do it. They can’t do it, they don’t [know any answer?]. They can’t get that mercury out. The scientists can’t do it. They’re finding all kinds of things that have doses for this and something for that and they can’t find anything that will do. This is poison. It goes into the system like this lead business. And who’s going to get it out?

But “then will the Lord be jealous for his land, and pity his people.” Praise God. “Yea, the Lord will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen: But I will remove far off from you the northern army.” Who’s that? [Russia.] I mean, we need the northern army moved back. There are not only pests and things that are cankering our waters and our animals and all this poisoning that’s being shot into them. There’s a northern army, back of that’s the devil, with his [getting us?].

“I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the east sea.” Isn’t this wonderful? “And his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up.” That’s just what I want to smell, the stink of the devil rotting and these demon forces. Let us smell some of the stink of the enemy, and let him stink. And stink shall come up…

“And his ill savour shall come up, because he hath done great things. Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the Lord will do great things. Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength. Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God: for he hath given you the former rain.” That’s what we were praying today. And the latter rain—that’s what we need.

“He hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil.” That’s what we want to see. Who was praying about that? They didn’t know which side to throw, to cast down, and the Lord brought in the haul. [man: That was part of the prophecy.] Was it? They didn’t know which side to cast on, and that they cast on the right side.

“And I will restore to you.” Now that’s the part. “And I will restore to you.” Could you ever get back again what’s gone? They ate it. Those old insects and plagues ate it. But “I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.” We’re plenty ashamed how things are going. I know I am. I’m plenty ashamed that there’s no more power of God. That there are no people standing up and praising His name and causing these things to go back. But we will not have to be ashamed. Praise God.

“And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.” Twice, 26th verse, 27th verse. “And my people shall never be ashamed. And it shall come to pass afterward….” “Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it worketh the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto those which are exercised thereby.”

“And it shall come to pass that afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh.” Who said that, many years later? Don’t everybody that know it…that’s right, hands up. Who said that? Let me see the hands that know it. Praise God. All right, Wes. [man: Peter.] Right, praise God, hallelujah.

[man: (inaudible)] You had it last night. Well, no wonder you knew it. “It shall come to pass…” Well, we know we’re right thus far. “It shall come to pass after that, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh.” Then will we have prophets, apostles and ministers and people evangelists. All righty, here’s what we’ll have. Your sons, your daughters, your old men will dream dreams, our young men shall see visions.

“And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids.” All right, Esther. “The handmaids, in those days will I pour out my spirit. And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness.” They of the miracles and the marvels and the mysteries of the Lord that will be brought into being. “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered.” Whosoever. “For in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call.”

Oh my, it’s such a satisfying… so satisfying that there is the answer to the need that is upon our nation, and that we can do something about it. So shall we say Monday regardless, next, it should be the day, not just the holiday? Is it Memorial Day, isn’t it? The day of…. Just this Scripture, let’s keep it before us, that there’s an answer to all of this and it’s in Jesus Christ and He will answer. And everything that you’ve thought of and wanted, there it is—a remnant (remedy). Hallelujah.
